THz Source, Components and Prototyping

Research involving Terahertz (THz) spectrum spanning from 100 GHz to 10 THz has been experiencing a rapid growth recently. The growth is application driven with interests from chemical and astronomic spectroscopy and sensing, medical and biological imaging and analysis, defense and security screening, material research and semiconductor industry, next generation communication networks and radars, etc.

The great potential of THz technology originates from the plethora of physical and chemical processes occurring in this region. Advantages of THz include high resolution and bandwidth than microwave, and less scattering loss than IR and optical.

THz source, detector, and related components and devices are very limited. It is our goal to address it and make THz technology potentials into reality.
